Two ways to start with us.
Whether you've just graduated or are still studying, we have a structured path for you — a two-year Graduate Development Programme, or a hands-on Vacation Work placement to meet your university's requirements.
Graduate Development Programme
A two-year rotational programme for new graduates — structured supervision, real project exposure, and a clear path toward ECSA registration.
Explore the programmeStudent Vacation Work Programme
4–6 week placements for current students, designed to help you meet your university's vacation work requirements with real project documentation experience.
Explore the programmeHow we work
Real projects. Real support.
Whether you're with us for six weeks or two years, this is how we bring junior team members into live project work — one task at a time, with the guidance and time you need to do it properly.
You're assigned a task
On a live project — whatever Letlou is working on at the time. The work follows the project, not a fixed curriculum.
Briefing & guidance
A senior engineer walks you through the task — context, expectations, and what "good" looks like.
Execute, with time to learn
A defined timeline with room for research — and regular check-ins along the way, not just at the end.
Review & feedback
Your work is reviewed and signed off, becoming part of your growing track record.
Annual intake
Graduate Development Programme
You won't be asked to pick a specialism on day one. Over your two years, the "How we work" cycle above repeats across whatever Letlou's project pipeline looks like at the time — and that means you'll build genuine roundedness across three lenses:
Technical Design
Modelling, performance analysis, and understanding how systems work on paper — technical documentation, simulation runs, and grid compliance reviews.
On-Site Reality
Seeing how systems work in the field — site inspections, construction monitoring, and verifying that what's built matches what was designed.
Strategic Advisory
Understanding the "why" — risk, finance, due diligence, and what makes a project bankable and successful.
Every project Letlou takes on touches at least one of these lenses — sometimes all three. You don't master one and move on; you build all three, repeatedly, across different projects. That's what makes a well-rounded consultant.
Graduate Development Programme
Structured supervision: Every graduate is paired with a senior engineer who reviews your work, answers questions, and signs off your ECSA experience log. You're never alone.

Specialist mandates
Lead mandates that matter
We don't just hire staff — we engage specialists. You provide the technical rigour that protects billions in project value.
Lender's Technical Advisor
Perform deep-dive technical due diligence for banks, DFIs, and development finance institutions. You are the final line of defence against project failure.
Owner's Engineer
Oversee EPC contractors on behalf of project sponsors. Ensure what is built matches what was promised — from design through to commissioning.
Independent Engineer
Provide impartial technical certification for lenders and investors — witnessing commissioning and testing, and confirming a project performs as designed before funds are released.
Transaction Advisory
Support developers and investors through financial close — proposal development, financial modelling review, and stakeholder negotiation across the project lifecycle.

The Talent Pool — first access
We often engage consultants based on specific project geographies or niche technology needs. By joining our pool, you are the first we call when a mandate matches your CV.
On-site deployment
On-site oversight
Our site personnel are the eyes and hands on the ground — verifying that what's in the drawings matches what's being built on the ground.
Our site personnel work directly on active construction sites across Southern Africa — civil, electrical, and HSE roles deployed as projects reach construction milestones.
Typical requirements
Civil & Structural Inspector
Oversee earthworks, foundations, and structural installation — checking that what's built on site matches the civil and structural drawings.
Electrical & E&I Inspector
Verify electrical, earthing, and lightning protection installation against design — module stringing, cabling, and protection systems.
HSE & QA Officer
Keep the site safe and compliant — health and safety oversight, quality assurance checks, and non-conformance reporting throughout construction.

Project enablement
The enablement backbone
Letlou's engineers cannot deliver without a world-class business framework. Our corporate team manages the high-stakes environment behind the engineering.
Legal & IP
Protect Letlou's contracts, intellectual property, and client relationships — from NDAs and service agreements to POPIA compliance across every mandate.
Finance & Ops
Keep the business running — treasury, project accounting, and the operational backbone that lets engineers focus on engineering, not admin.
People & Culture
Build the team — talent acquisition, onboarding, and the mentorship structures that turn graduates into registered professionals.
Brand & Comms
Tell Letlou's story — marketing, stakeholder engagement, and the materials that represent our work to clients, partners, and the public.
